CinCinnati — Elations now offers their patent-pending formula in a powder form for improving joint health, the company announced. The new powder packets deliver the same recommended levels of glucosamine and chondroitin as the original Elations drink supplement.

Consumer testing showed that 75% of the general population strongly agreed that powder would be good to use on the go and that it’s more absorbable and easier to swallow than pills.

The new Elations powder pack, shipping in February, will be available in two-flavors: cranberry-apple and raspberry-white grape. To use, empty contents of one packet into a 20-oz. bottle of water, then shake or mix well. Suggested retail price for the 7-stick box ranges from $6.97 to $7.99. Elations also introduced a new flavor to its ready-to-drink line: black cherry.

The first application, PICKKA Med, gives consumers a tool for selecting the right products for specific symptoms, based on age, illness and allergy conditions, with just a few clicks on their iPhones.

Evincii uses a patent-pending “expert guided search” technology and comprehensive knowledge base, providing the consumer with a “pharmacist in your pocket” to better navigate OTC decisions. Recommendations are based on FDA-approved, in the United States are included in the PICKKA Med knowledge base.

Based on two independent studies that interviewed 1,700 consumers who used the system, 91% were confident in the product recommendations, also indicating that it made shopping for OTC medicines easier.

PhEMR (pronounced “femur”) said version 2. 1.0 of its EMR software would help to ensure compliance with new EMR standards and will include such features as electronic prescribing, automatic ap-pointment-reminder calls, electronic medical coding and billing, form generators and others.

The company also will offer the patient portal and appointment reminder systems as stand-alone applications.

MinneaPolis — Yoplait recently announced the launch of YoPlus Light, available in three flavors: honey-vanilla, strawberry-banana and key lime.

Similar to YoPlus yogurts already available in supermarkets nationwide, YoPlus Light contains a special blend of probiotic cultures and a natural dietary fiber, but with 36% fewer calories. hauPPauge, n. Y. — Amneal Pharmaceuticals has launched its first exclusive generic, the company has announced.

The generic drug maker launched nizatidine oral solution in the 15-mg-per-mL strength on Jan. 4. The drug, a treatment for treating and preventing ulcers and treating heartburn and gastroesophageal reflux disease, is a generic version of Braintree Labs’ Axid.

As the first company to win Food and Drug Administration approval for a generic version of Axid, Amneal will have six months in which to directly compete with the branded version of the drug.
